Understanding The Basics To Google Advertisements

You know what's so nice about the internet?  If you have questions about anything or want to shop for products, Google is your best friend.  Let's say you search up "snowboarding gear" and the first link to pop up is a sponsored ad. It would look something like this.....

As many of you know, the first two websites are advertised.  Anytime you see the word "sponsored" or "ad" next to a link on the results page, it is being digitally marketed from that website.  They are paid to be in the top spots.  If you look below the ads, those are considered organic search results... meaning they are unpaid search results.  So how does that work?

Well, marketers from a business create a list that involves keywords (Example: Snowboarding Gear).  A keyword is a term used in the digital marketing world. It's a word that you (an internet user) use to search in the search bar on Google.  If marketers want to get their ad in front of you, they use this thing called Google Ads Keyword Planner.  It helps them find which keywords are best to target.

With marketers, there is a certain strategy they use to make their ads successful:

1. Start with a goal - What do they want from their ads?
2. Create a message
2. Research their audience (you) and competition
3. Define their target audience
3. Choose which social media platforms to use for advertising
4. Create & organize a marketing campaign
5. Establish how they'll measure their campaign

So with that said, the main goal for a business is to persuade you to click on their website to either:

1. Increase Their Sales
2. Introduce You To Their Products/Services
3. Reach Their Target Customer
4. Build Awareness
5. Acquire New Customers

If you end up clicking on their website, just know that you made the marketer's day!  They need internet users like you to make their business thrive.
